January 3rd - Happy New Year!  It is very hard to believe that Y2K is history!  Where did the year go?  Well, it was a very busy one that is for sure!  And we ended it up that way with a trip to Three Hills Alberta and a family reunion.  All 7 of us together with spouses and kids (16 grandkids) make for quite a party!  We left on Thursday the 28th after a nasty storm had passed through and headed north into strong winds.  Just north of the border we started hitting freezing rain and by the time we hit Highway 1 at Moose Jaw it was totally glare ice.  After making it to Swift Current (and noticing that the alternator on the van was having issues) we decided to stay overnight there.  In the morning we went on and although the roads were better there was dense fog much of the way.  The alternator had started  working again but quit when we were almost to Three Hills.  It was speculated that ice was causing it to quit but over the weekend it got noticeably worse so on Monday my brother Mike located a guy that fixes alternators and we got it fixed.  We went to Dave's on Saturday and did some tubing behind his snowmobile then enjoyed a wonderful meal that Leanne had prepared.  Then on Sunday we all went to Jim & Martha's for the afternoon and evening to celebrate New Years and exchange gifts.  Mike gave me a really neat original brochure on 65 Galaxies.  We had a wonderful (although tiring) time and appreciated it all very much.  Thanks to Don & Val for their wonderful hospitality.

January 8th - We went skiing on Friday and had a great time!  No one got hurt and the Lord continues to be merciful to us in all His awesome ways!  The weather has been very nice and the new year is off to a rip snorting start!

January 15th - Today Hollis is 14!  Hard to believe that it was that long ago that we (Vanessa, her mom and I) spent those couple of longs days and nights at the Red Deer Hospital!  Of course for Vanessa it was the longest - but the Lord rewarded her with a wonderful son!  Now he is much bigger but just as wonderful - what an awesome gift from the Lord are children!  We had some snow (after some rain) this weekend so it looks like winter again.

January 22nd - More snow has fallen but now the weather has turned warmer so it feels like spring.  We are planning on skiing this Friday so I hope it does not melt to much!  We are all doing well although with music lessons this driving to Bismarck is getting old!  Pray for patience as we drive and protection on the road.  Gas prices went up .10 per gallon and don't show any signs of going down!  No use to complain since we can't change anything anyway.

January 29th - We did not go skiing as dad and kids were all fighting sore throats!  We have another chance this Friday and hope to go.  The kids school pictures are finally in!
